Proteintech is experiencing rapid growth in Europe and is now recruiting for an Accountant in Manchester. This position will further expand and optimize in-house accounting and financial reporting. As part of an excellent team, you will report directly to the local management as well as to the European Finance Manager. You will have real responsibility and gain exposure to multiple facets of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Receivable: transfer invoice date from order processing system into accounting software
  • Accounts Payable: process incoming invoices in ERP system
  • Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations - multiple currencies
  • General Ledger postings including accruals, prepayments, payroll, bad debt, stock movements and fixed assets
  • Preparation of monthly VAT returns to include Import Duty review
  • Prepare periodical reporting to local management as well as to company HQ - currently quarterly with a look to move to monthly
  • Collaborate with tax consultants and auditors on local UK statutory Yr End filing and US consolidated accounts

Essential requirements:

  • Qualified in AAT, ATT, or ACCA.
  • Three or more years professional experience, ideally in an international group of companies
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and the willingness to further develop
  • Basic knowledge of Xero and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of UK tax and US-GAAP would be preferred
  • Careful, reliable and conscientious way of working, initiative and ability to self-manage
  • Analytical thinking and ability to work in a team

You will have a portfolio of corporation tax clients and alongside the Senior team you will prepare and review tax computations, from the start of the compliance process to final delivery and billing. Researching (and maintain up to date knowledge of) legislation and business tax matters, including providing technical analysis on the tax treatment on items within tax computations and the impact new legislation may have on clients. Working with more junior members of the team to delegate efficiently, review work and have the ability to encourage and foster development of the more junior members of the team. There will also be an opportunity to work on tax advisory projects that arise on your clients this ranges from R&D and Patent box claims to group re-organisations and transactions work.
