Job Title: Volunteer Manager (RHS Garden Bridgewater)

Salary: Circa £31K per annum pro rata

Hours: 4 days per week (30 hours, 0.8 FTE) including occasional evenings and weekends (with some hybrid/flexible working)

Contract: Permanent

Overview of the Role:

RHS Garden Bridgewater is the Royal Horticultural Society s (RHS) fifth garden and has been open to visitors for four years. As the nation s leading gardening charity, the RHS takes pride in ensuring all of its five gardens showcase excellence in horticulture and inspire generations of people to garden and grow. The garden welcomes around 500,000 visitors per year, and is renowned for being a tranquil green space on the outskirts of Salford.

The garden currently has 250+ regular volunteers and we are looking for a new Volunteer Manager to continue to develop and grow the skills and support of this large team. The role has overall responsibility for the volunteers at RHS Garden Bridgewater, ensuring their time is well spent and they have a great experience contributing towards the strategic goals of the RHS. This role also supports over 30 Volunteer Supervisors (employees) across multiple teams with their volunteer management.

The role is responsible for the implementation of the RHS Vision for Volunteering at RHS Garden Bridgewater, with a specific focus on increasing the diversity of our volunteers to represent the local community in Salford.

This is an exciting opporutunity for an expert in volunteer management to apply their skills and leadership knowledge, working alongside a motived and creative team and the wider RHS.

Excellent leadership and commmunuication skills are essential for this role, along with experience of managing volunteers, as the successful candidate must be able to liaise effectively with a diverse range of volunteers, alongside RHS staff at all levels.
