Carmichael UK is working with a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced highways Agent. This is a great opportunity to lead a key section of works on a major infrastructure scheme, managing teams, subcontractors, and technical delivery from pre-start through to handover.

• Lead site operations across earthworks, drainage, structures, or surfacing (depending on section)

• Manage site teams including Engineers, Foremen, and Subcontractors

• Oversee daily planning, resource allocation, and delivery to programme

• Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety, and environmental standards

• Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and work package plans

• Liaise with commercial, design, and planning teams to drive progress

• Support forecasting, cost control, and reporting alongside the commercial team

• Drive a Right First Time culture on site

• Previous experience as an Agent on highways or major civils projects

• Strong understanding of earthworks, drainage, or structures packages

• HNC / HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

• SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certificates

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

• Knowledge of NEC contracts and client-side expectations is beneficial
