EC&I Project Engineer

- Lead and develop EC&I standards (ATEX, DSEAR, SIL, functional safety) in line with legal and industry requirements.
- Manage and deliver projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring on-time, on-budget execution.
- Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and reliability improvements.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with COMAH, IEC 61508/61511, and other safety-critical standards.
- Act as the go-to authority for control systems (PLC, DCS, SIS, instrumentation) across the site.
- Mentor colleagues, manage contractors, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver safe and efficient outcomes.
- Support the Engineering Manager with budget planning and cost control (projects up to £150k).
- A degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering (or related field).
- 5-10 years' experience in EC&I engineering within high-hazard chemical, petrochemical, or similar heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of PLC/DCS systems, instrumentation calibration, loop checking, and functional safety.
- Working knowledge of ATEX, DSEAR, COMAH, SIL and hazard studies (HAZOP, LOPA).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards it (preferred). Conduct detailed engineering design of mechanical systems and components.
