Our client are a leading UK based manufacruter and supplier of LV - HV equipment. With a strong market reputation and a proactive personal and career development program,

They are currently seeking an HV Fitter to join their team in the North West.

As a HV Fitter, you will play a pivotal role within the site services team and will be responsible for a wide range of duties on substation plant and equipment including installation of new HV/ LV equipment, refurbishment and maintenance of existing equipment, fault investigation & repair as well as routine condition monitoring in line with commercial targets.

You will draw on your hands-on experience of managing HV assets to work effectively on a range of sites across the region.

In addition to working on complex High Voltage equipment, you will also work on all kinds of ancillary equipment such as DC battery systems, air compressors and diesels etc.

You will be adapted to thinking on your feet and reacting to site requirements to find solutions for your clients. You will follow defined maintenance task manuals and uphold our best-in-class ethos.

You will work well independently and demonstrate your ability to lead and co-ordinate a team of field service engineers. You will champion the company brand and help to create a positive working environment for your peers and colleagues.

Install, refurbish, maintain, fault find and condition monitor substation plant and equipment including:

Installation of Control and protection equipment

Installation of Earthing Systems

Installation of outdoor equipment such as Bus Bar, Disconnectors and Switchgear

Maintenance of High Voltage equipment

Transformer oil sample, analysis and changes

Carry out basic testing such as Ducter Resistance tests - IR test

Your background

  • A minimum of 4 years in a similar position within the industry or qualified at NVQ Level 3 as a minimum
  • A strong background in Electrical Engineering with a thorough knowledge of switchgear maintenance and installation
  • Experience of working on transmission equipment
  • Competency with Microsoft suites including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Knowledge and experience with retrofitting of LV and HV switchgear is advantageous
  • Strong people skills and experience in managing internal & external relationships
  • Ability to read and interpret technical CAD drawings is required
  • Management capabilities and ability to help develop junior project engineers within the team

Full UK Driving License is required
