Job Role: Electrical Design EngineerSalary / Rate: 45- 50 /hour Outside IR35Location: Greater Manchester (Hybrid working)

Our client is a reputable Design & Build Contractor looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the Detailed Design phase of multiple MEICA projects on major UK water frameworks.

About the Role:
  • Provide electrical design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements
  • Produce electrical design calculations, single line diagrams, and electrical layouts for the water industry
  • Direct and support CAD technicians and junior designers
  • Prepare scopes of work for and check the output of subcontract M&E design teams
  • Liaise with suppliers, prepare electrical specifications, and review technical submissions
  • Conduct design investigations and produce reports and technical documentation
  • Ensure design work complies with current BS7671, IET Wiring Regulations, and industry standards
  • Implement and record any design changes throughout the project lifecycle
  • Estimate hours and resources required for electrical design packages
  • Attend and present at meetings and design reviews as required

About You:
  • Graduate, HND or equivalent industry experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years' electrical design experience in the UK water industry
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP)
  • Experience in clean water and wastewater design (infrastructure and non-infrastructure)
  • Sound technical understanding of LV distribution, motor control centres (MCCs), control panels, and instrumentation
  • Registered with a professional body (e.g., IET) and working towards chartership if not already chartered
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Results-focused with a commitment to technical excellence and continuous development

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced S38 Clerk of Works to come and join a busy client in the Manchester area. This opportunity is outside IR35. The main duties of the S38 Clerk of Works are: Oversee the full lifecycle of S38 agreements from initial planning applications through technical approval, site inspections, and final adoption. Assess and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and construction details submitted by developers. Regularly visit development sites to monitor construction works and ensure compliance with approved designs and standards. Act as the key point of contact between the local authority, developers, consultants, utility providers, and legal teams. Coordinate the adoption process, including issuing provisional and final certificates, ensuring necessary legal, financial, and maintenance requirements are met. Ensure that all works comply with current highway design standards (e.g. DMRB, Manual for Streets), local guidance, and health & safety regulations. Maintain accurate records, including site reports, technical approvals, correspondence, and legal documents. Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, and technical standards related to highways adoption. Monitor and manage performance bonds, commuted sums, and developer contributions where applicable.
