We are seeking a skilled and motivated Web Developer to join a major digital programme for a leading public sector organisation based in Manchester. This role offers the opportunity to shape customer-facing technology, improve digital services, and help deliver a modern, user-friendly online experience for residents.

As a Web Developer, you will play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining web-based applications, system integrations, and automation processes that support a large-scale customer experience programme. You will work closely with stakeholders, end users, and partners to deliver innovative, user-focused solutions in line with industry best practices and design principles.

Key responsibilities of the Web Developer

  • Develop, configure, and maintain web applications and bespoke integrations
  • Design and implement automation solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather user requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Ensure code quality through reviews, documentation, and adherence to coding best practices
  • Monitor and troubleshoot live systems, proactively addressing issues
  • Provide technical expertise, advice, and support to internal teams and partners
  • Embed cybersecurity considerations into all development work
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by championing innovation and user-centred design

Required skills and experience of the Web Developer

  • Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent professional qualification)
  • 3+ years' experience developing web-based applications and enterprise-level databases
  • Proficiency in object-oriented languages (C#, Java, VB.NET) and front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Experience integrating systems via APIs and automation tools
  • Familiarity with low-code platforms and agile methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on user experience
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for sharing knowledge
