DNA Recruitment Solutions are seeking a dynamic Operations Manager for our long established manufacturing client based in North Manchester. Our family owned and run client take great pride in the quality products they provide to all customers and clients and have been a trusted name in the steel industry for well over 50 years.
This is a unique opportunity for an Operations Manager with experience in manufacturing and welding to join at the start of the next phase in this company's illustrious journey, where you will work alongside the family to maintain their position and continue to dominate for another 50 years.
The Role
- Manage and coordinate overall operations.
- Manage the production of all products in line with customer requirements.
- Effectively manage resources including people, equipment and technology.
- Plan and implement operations to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Identify areas for improvement and create plans to implement necessary improvements.
- Actively seek cost saving strategies to maximise profitability.
- Liaise with management and supply chain to ensure optimal efficiency.
- Support regulatory audits and ensure plant compliance with company policy and legislation.
- Maintain a lean culture while constantly striving for improvements in safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Responsible for Health and Safety policy compliance and keeping all employees informed and trained.
- Resolve and employee issues through fair implementation of company policy.
- Carry out regular performance reviews and ensure relevant training requirements are kept up to date and compliant.
- Set and control budgets and KPIs.
- Control stock levels of raw materials.
- Coordinate with and liaise with other relevant departments and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience in manufacturing operations and procedures.
- Experience of tubular steel and welding.
- Proficient in lean methodology.
- Strong understanding of quality monitoring and able to drive continuous improvement.
- Recognised management and or safety qualifications preferred.
- Strong ability to influence, negotiate and communicate at all levels.
- Analytical thinker.
- Proactive and innovative problem solving.
- Strong planning skills.
- Collaborative.
- Leadership.
- Strong IT skills.
- Previous experience of implementing new, smarter processes particularly robotics would be beneficial.
This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the next stage of this company's expansion, as they seek to streamline processes, develop a nationwide or even global sales strategy and transform their business. You will work Monday to Friday 07:30 - 16:30 with an early finish on Fridays, hours subject to change due to the needs of the business.
There is a bonus structure which is based on team performance against KPIs, as well as a separate management KPI bonus. Free, on site parking, company pension, Christmas shutdown.
