QHSE Assistant£27000 - £29000Wigan
We are working with a flexible packaging company in Wigan. Due to growth, they are now seeking a QHSE Assistant to join their team.
You will support the QHSE Manager in implementing and maintaining quality, health & safety, and environmental standards on site. You ll help ensure compliance with BRCGS, A2 permit, ISO standards, and customer requirements, contributing to a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
The Role
- Support compliance with standards including BRCGS, A2 permit, ISO 14001.
- Deliver H&S inductions for new employees.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and compliance.
- Review and improve QHSE procedures and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and legislation.
- Assist in risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Provide accurate QHSE data and reports.
- Contribute to internal audits and ensure audit readiness.
- Record and monitor product quality in line with customer expectations.
- Support initiatives to reduce defects, incidents, and environmental impact.
- Help develop and deliver QHSE training.
- Assist in maintaining QHSE performance data and strategy.
- Investigate customer complaints and identify corrective actions.
- Liaise with teams on QHSE matters and support communication of key updates.
- Uphold hygiene and housekeeping standards across the site.
The Person
- Experience with standards such as BRCGS, ISO 9001/14001/45001 (essential).
- Background in QHSE, preferably in manufacturing (desirable).
- Internal Auditor qualification, HACCP Level 3, IOSH/NEBOSH (desirable).
- Strong organisational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Team player with a proactive mindset and ability to work under pressure.
- Reasonable physical fitness (some lifting/bending involved).
Salary and Benefits A generous base salary of up to £29,000 is on offer for this role.
