We are actively looking to engage shipping, freight and road transport professionals with as passion for freight forwarding for a new role as a Freight Operations Supervisor in Manchester! Client Details My client is a market-leader in the freight & shipping industry and has offices based across the world (in Italy, Croatia, France and the UK). You will be joining a fast-pace environment assisting in finding logistics solutions for some of the world's largest industrial, retail & FMCG based customers. My client focuses on searching air freight, sea freight & road freight solutions, which are both cost effective & time sensitive. Job Description As a Freight Operations Supervisor you will report in to the Freight Branch Manager on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the following areas for responsibility across the Manchester office:
- Managing a small team of 12 specialist freight forwarders across air, sea and road freight.
- Overseeing the team responsible for preparing road, air and sea freight pricing & customer quotations - informing about the freight prices, port charges, cost of special documents, insurance prices as well as prices for handling the goods.
- Organising transport through third party transit means - such as full loads, part loads, courier, air freight, sea freight and dedicated transport.
- Providing valid insurance for the vehicles - trucks and trailers
- Providing appropriate transportation means with adequate load capacity and regulations around ADR via road freight.
- Handling customs entries and arranging billings for VAT/Duties
- Ensuring, booking and conducting customs clearance.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have an expansive background in either air, sea or road freight forwarding industry with a bias towards either road freight. The ideal Freight Operations Supervisor will have the following skills and experience:
- 3+ year's experience in freight forwarding in either road or air freight.
- Experience leading or managing teams within a freight forwarding or shipping environment.
- Experience of pricing, quotation and planning customer deliveries across road, air & sea freight.
- Desirable experience of customs compliance
- Excellent customer service experience
- Knowledge of INCOTerms is advantageous
- Commutable to Manchester on a daily basis
