Our client is looking for a detail oriented and proactive Property Service Charge Accountant to join their dynamic team. You will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of their property portfolio, ensuring accurate service charge budgeting, reconciliation, and reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Service Charge Budgeting: Prepare, review, and manage annual service charge budgets for a diverse portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of service charge accounts, ensuring accuracy in allocation of costs and charges.
- Year-End Accounts: Produce and finalise service charge year-end accounts, working closely with property managers to ensure all expenditures are correctly accounted for.
- Client Liaison: Communicate with landlords, tenants, and property managers to resolve any queries related to service charges, budgets, or accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Provide regular financial reports, including variance analysis, to clients and senior management, offering insight into service charge performance.
- Audit Support: Coordinate and provide information for external auditors during service charge audits.
- Compliance: Ensure all accounting processes comply with relevant property legislation, leases, and RICS guidelines.
- Proven experience as a Service Charge Accountant within the property sector, with a strong understanding of service charge accounting processes.
- Familiarity with property management software (e.g., Qube, Yardi, MRI) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of property legislation, RICS guidelines, and lease terms relating to service charge accounts.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
