A Quantity Surveyor is required to join a rail contractor to work on a 2-year contract in Manchester. You will be part of a major programme of work modernising the railway signalling infrastructure as part of the strategic development spanning multiple control periods. You will be the interface between the delivery team, project management and commercial management for the cost and value reporting, work package budgeting, cost control thorough to the final account.

The successful candidate must have strong previous Quantity Surveyor experience working within a rail contractor side project environment and be degree qualified or equivalent and/or be working towards professional qualification (RICS etc). You must be able to manage both direct labour and subcontract costs, estimate change / variations using various methods, forecast cost and measure cost of work complete, manage commercial strategies, work with limited supervision, and manage expectations, and work under own initiative and under cost or time critical conditions. You must also have good negotiation skills, financial and commercial acumen, good contractual knowledge, and experience, and be confident and able to deal externally and internally at all levels.
