Senior/Principal Hydraulic Modeller

Sheffield or Manchester

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious and innovative team of experts in a well-regarded growing environmental consultancy providing a full range of technical services across three offices, giving you opportunities to diversify your experience and develop your career.

Candidates should be degree qualified ideally in a relevant environmental/engineering discipline. The successful candidate is likely to have several years experience in hydrology, flood risk, hydraulic modelling, and river engineering, ideally working for private and public sector clients, and be working towards or have achieved a relevant professional qualification with CIWEM or ICE.

You will work alongside technical specialists and project managers to provide technical expertise and ensure that modelling projects are delivered to budget, schedule, technical, and quality standards. You will play a key role in our modelling team, taking on multiple small to large modelling projects.

You will have experience in the management and development of staff, as well as the ability to integrate well into a team and provide technical leadership to other modelling staff.

Key skills include:

  • 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling experience using Flood Modeller, ESTRY TUFLOW or HECRAS, as well as MapInfo and ArcGIS.
  • Ability to undertake hydrological assessments using Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2,and WINFAP.
  • Producing and reviewing clear and concise hydrological assessments, hydraulic modelling reports, and Flood Risk Assessment reports.
  • Providing inputs into fee proposals.
