About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Bolton Council s Assessment Service, which forms part of the borough s Integrated Front Door. The team handles referrals and assessments involving children at risk of significant harm, ensuring the appropriate safeguarding and welfare interventions are in place.

As a Deputy Team Manager, you ll play a crucial leadership role, supporting the Team Manager in supervising and guiding a team of social workers. You ll ensure that safeguarding services provided to children meet the highest standards, comply with statutory requirements, and are effectively delivered through strong supervision, performance management, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support a team of social workers in carrying out Section 47 enquiries and social care assessments

• Oversee processes including Initial Child Protection Conferences, Public Law Outline, and Care Proceedings

• Maintain high standards through case audits, reflective supervision, and performance reviews

• Ensure compliance with all statutory, legal, and organisational frameworks

• Promote a child-centred, strengths-based approach to practice

What We re Looking For:

• Experienced children s social care practitioner, ideally with previous management or supervisory experience

• Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks, assessment processes, and care proceedings

• Confident leader with excellent organisational and decision-making skills

• Commitment to best practice and continuous professional development
