Chair of the Board - Bolton Cares Group of Companies

Location: Bolton Remuneration: Unremunerated (reasonable expenses paid) Time Commitment: Minimum of 22 days per annum Tenure: Up to six years (three terms of two years, subject to appraisal)

Bolton Cares is seeking an exceptional individual to lead its Board as Chair, guiding the strategic direction and governance of a group of companies delivering high-quality adult social care services across Bolton and beyond.

As Chair, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bolton Cares, working closely with the Chief Executive and fellow Board members to ensure the organisation continues to deliver compassionate, effective, and sustainable care. You will lead the Board in setting strategic priorities, upholding governance standards, and fostering a culture of integrity, inclusion, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Board of Bolton Cares Limited, Bolton Cares (A) Limited, and Bolton Cares (B) Limited.

  • Champion the organisation's mission and values, acting as an ambassador to stakeholders and the wider community.

  • Ensure effective governance, financial stewardship, and risk management.

  • Support and constructive challenge the Chief Executive, including line management and annual appraisal.

  • Lead Board recruitment, appraisal, and succession planning.

  • Represent Bolton Cares at strategic meetings, including with Bolton Council's Steering Committee.
