Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have come up with a fraud prevention 'Masterplan', in line with Oasis tickets going on sale this weekend.
With tickets expected to be in high demand, fraudsters are likely to take advantage. GMP issued some advice to ensure that "it is only fraudsters who will be crying their hearts out this weekend".
Many buyers will turn to social media and marketplaces for tickets, which is predominantly where fraudsters operate.
GMP advises that, if you pay for a ticket in this method and use a bank transfer. make sure you use a credit card.
This is because credit cards offer protection under the Consumer Credit Act if you're scammed.
If you do get the tickets you paid for, you might find out that they are fake, or that they have been reported as lost or stolen. They will therefore be invalid.
Meanwhile, some fraudsters may suggest meeting up to give you the tickets in person, but when the time comes they don't show up.
To stay safe from the aforementioned pitfalls, a GMP spokesperson said: "Check online for negative reviews of the website you want to use and remember, the only way to avoid being scammed is to buy tickets from: the promoter, the venue box office, a reputable ticket exchange site or an official agent."
Detective Sergeant Stacey Shannon, of GMP's Economic Crime Unit, added: "Little by little our work continues to get crime prevention advice out to as many people as possible and we want to ensure that fans don't lose their hard-earned cash to fraud and the only people who will be crying their hearts out this weekend will be the fraudsters.
"Share this advice with your family and friends who are buying tickets this weekend to spread the word.
"We don't want you asking yourself where did it all go wrong, so be careful and don't get pressured into purchasing tickets you think may be suspicious. For more advice: Ticket scams | Action Fraud
